How to report suspected abuse or neglect

Offices within local communities are responsible for receiving and investigating reports of suspected child abuse and neglect. Reports are received by the Department of Social Services (DSS) located in each county and assessed to determine whether the report meets the legal definition of abuse or neglect and each situation’s degree of danger. If you suspect abuse, Dorchester Children’s Center offers several ways to report it. If you need assistance with this process, please contact us at (843) 875-1551.

If a child is in immediate danger, dial 911!
